SNOHOMISH, WA: Big Trees Inc., (https://bigtreesupply.com/), a large tree nursery in the Seattle area, has scheduled an upcoming project involving moving two young Stewartia Pseudocamellia trees that would otherwise be cut down at the site, an old garden that has been set for redevelopment. Big Trees Inc. will transplant the trees into the company’s tree nursery and then begin the search for a new home for the trees.
The Stewartia Pseudocamellia is a tree in the family native to Japan and Korea. Small to medium size in height, typically reaching heights of 30’ or 45’, up to as high as 54’ at full growth. The two trees that Big Trees Inc. will be moving are younger in development, but still reach an impressive 18’ and are still growing. The process is to be supervised by Big Trees project manager and top tree transplanting specialist Todd Holmes, and is scheduled for early February. The timing of the project is ideal by the fact the transplant will take place mid-Winter. It is best to transplant trees when they are dormant and the company has expressed confidence that the trees will undergo no harm and the move will be successful.
Nancy Penrose, owner of Big Trees Inc., stated: “These deciduous trees are really beautiful specimens. Their cream toned and textured bark and small star-like white flowers make this species very unique, and we’re very happy to rescue such beautiful trees. Hopefully we will be able to find a new home for them in time for their late spring bloom.”
