The GrandFir is an evergreen conifer which is a valuable ommercial timber species even though its wood is much weaker than over species. Its dark green needles are short and flat and are arranged on opposite sides of the branch. The cones grow upright on the very top branches of the tree and give the tree and interesting appearance when the cones are ripe.
